Ex-Citi, Goldman, NYMEX Execs Prep Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund


A new alternatives firm founded by a trio of Wall Street veterans is preparing to launch its first hedge fund, a multi-strategy offering, on Jan. 1.

New York-based Actium Capital Management was founded by Justin Brownhill, a former managing director in Citigroup’s equity department, David Solomon, formerly a Goldman Sachs executive, and ex-New York Mercantile Exchange Chairman Vincent Viola.

Perella Firm Names Hedge Fund Chief


Perella Weinberg Partners, the investment banking boutique founded by former buyout kingpin Joseph Perella, has named Rod Parsley to head its nascent hedge fund unit, Financial News reports.
 
Parsley joins the New York firm from alternatives firm Terrapin Asset Management, where he managed a $50 million water fund.

Ex-Treasury Chiefs Land At Hedge Funds


Two former heads of the U.S. Treasury Department, which is currently studying possible hedge fund regulations, have joined New York-based hedge funds.

John Snow, who served as President George W. Bush’s Treasury secretary until February, will join $16.5 billion fund Cerberus Capital Management as chairman, and his predecessor, former Harvard University president and Treasury chief under President Bill Clinton Lawrence Summers, has agreed to serve as a part-time managing director of $25 billion D.E. Shaw & Co.

Six-year-old asset management firm Adair Capital is gearing up to launch its first onshore vehicle early next year. The new offering, Adair Global Opportunities Fund, will be a global long/short equity vehicle targeted at domestic institutional investors.
