Hedge funds are helping to lure the heir to the British throne and his wife to the Big Apple for the first time.

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Kate Middleton will arrive in New York on Sunday to attend a major fundraiser for their alma mater, the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Among the 450 guests will be members of the New York hedge fund community, the Carlyle Group’s Olivier Sarkozy, Citigroup CEO Michael Corbat, Cartier chief executive Stanislas de Quercize, Bank of America Merrill Lynch's Alastair Borthwick, capital placement guru Alan Glatt, Atlantic Investment Management's Alex Roepers, and the former chairman of United Technologies George David.

The fundraiser, to be held at the Met’s Temple of Dendur, boasts a cost of $100,000 per table. It is being held in honor of St. Andrews’ 600th anniversary. William and Kate met at the school; both graduated in 2005.

It will not be the first time the royal couple have hobnobbed with hedgies; both attended 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ London gala in 2011, and Middleton returned to the event last year.
