Tell us a bit about your company and what it does? 

Madrone is a cloud based software company that provides data-driven decision support to asset managers. The company's two products, Root and 5 Forces, help industry participants transform structured and unstructured data into actionable analytics. Root leverages private transaction and position data to help asset managers improve investment performance. 5 Forces aggregates public data on asset managers to provide industry intelligence and reduce friction in the flow of capital. Our mission is to give managers/investors a clear picture of their portfolios and businesses so they can make smart data driven decisions.

How is different than other companies in the same space?

We are a technology company with the unique perspective of having significant work experience at leading asset management companies. We have deep knowledge of what money managers need in order to succeed. We brought together experts in finance, computer science, machine learning, and design to offer managers/investors the same cutting edge data tools available at the leading alternative asset management companies where we worked.

We are solving pain points that our founding team experienced in their prior roles. As a relatively young company, we have no legacy systems to maintain so innovation at Madrone is fast, impactful, and driven by the most modern software tools.

What is your company’s next target/milestone? 

We will launch our second product, 5 Forces, in the near future. 5 Forces makes public data intelligence accessible to support managers’ efforts around marketing and competitor analysis as well as empower investors/allocators with data to improve manager sourcing, diligence, and monitoring 

Can you tell us one unusual fact about your company? 

Our office is located at the base of Mt. Tamalpais, and our most recent Wednesday walk was a summit climb.
