Viking Global CFO Brown Stepping Down

Sep 3 2015 | 4:18pm ET

Viking Global Investors CFO Barrett Brown is stepping down from his position at the hedge fund management company.

A search for a replacement CFO is underway, according to Reuters. The move comes only a few months after the departure of co-CIO Tom Purcell from the firm in March, leaving Dan Sundheim as the sole CIO.

At more than $30 billion in assets under management, Viking is one of the largest U.S.-based hedge fund managers. It was founded in 1999 by former Tiger Management executive Andreas Halvorsen, who is the fim's CEO.

The firm’s largest hedge fund, Viking Global Equities, was down approximately 2.1% in August but remains up 7.4%, according to Reuters. It has produced annualized returns of 17.5 percent from inception through June 2015.
