Passport Capital Taps Ex-Winton CEO Fenner-Leitao To Head Marketing

John Burbank’s Passport Capital has hired former Winton CEO Tony Fenner-Leitao to lead the company’s marketing and investor relations efforts.

Fenner-Leitao, a former executive director at Goldman Sachs, left $30 billion Winton Capital Management, Europe’s fourth-largest hedge fund at the time, in February 2014 after more than six years. He will reportedly replace eight-year Passport veteran Bill Nolan, who will remain at the firm through May of next year.

Founded in 2000 by Burbank, San Francisco-based Passport manages approximately $4.4 billion in assets. The firm’s main macro fund is up 13% for 2015 through October, according to Bloomberg, helped by a large short position against commodities specialist Glencore.
