Citigroup has brought former Barclays executive Angus Yang aboard to lead the firm’s prime finance activities in Asia.

Yang will be Asia-Pacific head of prime finance at Citigroup’s Hong Kong office, according to a Bloomberg report citing an internal memo. He will be responsible for prime services, equity finance, agency securities lending and Citi’s Delta One service across Asia Pacific, including Japan and Australia.

Prime finance typically provides services to hedge funds and other alternative asset managers, including brokerage, lending, capital intro and back office functions. He replaces Joseph Chang, who left in March.

Yang was most recently director of equity prime services in Asia for Barclays, which he joined in 2002.
