AXA Investment Managers has named Alban Jarry as its chief digital technology officer as the firm looks to pursue business opportunities arising from big data and the company’s digital technology transformation.

The position is new. In his new role, Jarry will lead AXA IM’s suite of digital technology solutions. He joins AXA IM from French insurance company La Mutuelle Générale, where he was a director of its Solvency II program. Beforehand, he was deputy director of operations for Edmond de Rothschild Investment Managers, where he led efforts in information systems, project management and client reporting.

"New technologies continue to play an increasingly central role in our investment management processes and the way we work and interact with clients," said Joseph Pinto, global chief operating officer at AXA IM, in a statement. “We recognize the importance of digital in transforming the way our clients invest and interact with us. To that end, we have defined a strategy to set the framework for our digital ambitions and big data.”

“Having Alban on board will be key in helping to deliver against the goals of our digital strategy and drive innovation in the way that we use data and digital technologies across the business,” added Hervé Morel-Derocle, global head of technology at AXA IM. “We are certain that his expertise and ability to both, analyze existing technologies and anticipate new trends, will help accelerate our digital transformation.”

Headquartered in Paris, AXA IM managed more than €717 billion in assets at the end of 2016 from 21 offices in 57 countries. The company is part of the AXA Group, a global leader in financial protection and wealth management.
