Law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP has named investment fund specialists Sean Hill and Stephanie Berdik as partners in the firm’s Investment Funds Group.

Both will be based out of the company’s new Boston office that opened earlier this month, according to a statement.

Hill’s practice has an emphasis on the formation of private investment funds, and in structuring and execution of secondary transactions. He has experience advising managers across the spectrum, from emerging managers to established, multi-strategy firms managing more than $100 billion in assets. Prior to joining Kirkland, Hill was co-head of the private investment funds group at Proskauer Rose LLP. He holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.S. from Rutgers University.

Berdik advises private investment fund sponsors on all aspects of the structuring and establishment of private investment funds and portfolio investment activities, including capital raising, fund regulatory and compliance matters, and firm ownership and operational issues. She has extensive experience advising sponsors on managed accounts and single investor funds involving a variety of U.S. and non-U.S. institutional investors. Berdik was previously a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP. She holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.S.B.A. from Bucknell University.

“We are excited to welcome Sean and Stephanie as the first investment funds lawyers in our new Boston office,” added John O’Neil, global head of Kirkland’s Investment Funds Group. “Their experience is perfectly aligned for our global investment funds platform, which now includes more than 230 dedicated attorneys focused on providing sophisticated fund sponsor clients with full coverage throughout the lifecycle of a fund.”

Kirkland is a global leader in providing sophisticated advice to investment fund sponsors, institutional investors and other market participants in the alternative investment fund space. The company as a whole is a 1,900-attorney law firm representing global clients in investment funds, private equity, complex corporate transactions, restructuring, litigation, arbitration, and intellectual property matters.
