Alternative asset manager Trium Capital has launched a new UCITS-compliant long/short equity fund aimed at special situations and opportunistic events.

The new fund, named the Trium Opportunistic Equity Fund, launched on August 17, the company said in a statement. The company’s third UCITS fund, it is domiciled in Ireland and will follow a fundamental strategy in developed markets.

The Opportunistic Equity fund will be managed by Randeep Grewal, formerly a vascular & general surgeon in Britain’s National Health Service and Tudor Investment Corporation portfolio manager. He is supported on the fund by head of equity research Andy Perkins, who was with Société Générale for 15 years and most recently the French bank’s head of telecom equipment research.

Grewal joined Trium Capital as a portfolio manager in 2015, where the strategy has been incubated since August 2015, the statement said

London-based Trium Capital manages approximately $385 million across a diverse range of alternative investment strategies, including global and opportunistic equity, diversified macro, statistical arbitrage and multi-strategy funds. The company’s Dublin-based UCITS platform offers a distribution-led, full-scope, independent platform for investment managers to set-up Irish-domiciled funds. Trium is a UN PRI signatory and a member of AIMA and the Hedge Fund Standards Board.
