Alternative asset manager Magnetar Capital has hired former KKR executive and private credit specialist Erik Falk to work on strategic initiatives with the company’s executive committee.

Falk will come aboard September 5 and be based in Evanston, IL, the company said in a statement. The position new and Falk’s title not yet been determined.

Magnetar’s executive committee includes founder & CEO Alec Litowitz, co-founder & president Ross Laser, and global head of fixed income David Snyderman.

Falk joins Magnetar from Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co., where he was most recently a member of the firm and the global head of private credit before leaving in April 2017.

While at KKR, Falk oversaw the private funds within the firm’s $35 billion credit business. Beforehand, he spent eight years at Deutsche Bank, where he held several roles in the bank’s Global Markets Division including founding the special situations group and co-heading the global securitized products group.

“Erik’s decades of experience and strong track record of success make him a valuable addition to [our] team as we continue to pursue new and innovative market opportunities across a broad range of sectors,” said Litowitz in the statement. “We are fortunate to have him on board and welcome him to the firm.”

Founded in 2005 and headquartered near Chicago, Magnetar is a multi-strategy alternative investment manager that opportunistically employs a wide range of fixed income, energy, quantitative and fundamental investment strategies across public and private markets, geographies and company structures. The company manages approximately $13.6 billion.
