Alternative asset manager Trium Capital has named former Old Mutual Global Investors executive Donald Pepper as co-head of the firm alongside co-founder Shenan Dhanani.

Pepper brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role, Trium said in a statement, and a wealth of hedge fund and alternative UCITS fund experience. He was most recently managing director of alternatives for OMGI from December 2012 to March 2017.

Beforehand, he was investment director at TT international, and moved to the “buy side” in 2008 when he became head of alternatives at New Star and, upon its acquisition, head of hedge funds at Henderson Global Investors. In this role, he co-managed two fund of hedge funds which allocated to a range of hedge and alternative UCITS Funds.

Early in his career, Pepper had stints in prime brokerage sales for Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.

London-based Trium Capital manages approximately $385 million across a diverse range of alternative investment strategies, including global and opportunistic equity, diversified macro, statistical arbitrage and multi-strategy funds. The company’s Dublin-based UCITS platform offers a distribution-led, full-scope, independent platform for investment managers to set-up Irish-domiciled funds.

Trium is a UN PRI signatory and a member of AIMA and the Standards Board For Alternative Investments (formerly the Hedge Fund Standards Board).
