Eaton Vance’s Parametric Portfolio Associates unit has hired former MSCI executive Marc Fiore as global head of marketing in the U.S. and Australia.

Fiore will focus on accelerating business growth by promoting the Parametric brand and building content-rich, data and technology-driven programs to effectively leverage the skills of the marketing team, according to a statement. He will be based in Parametric’s Seattle headquarters and report to James Barrett, head of client development.

The position is new.

Prior to joining Parametric, Fiore was executive director and global head of strategic marketing at MSCI, where he spearheaded marketing efforts in the smart beta and ETF spaces. Beforehand, he held various senior marketing and business development responsibilities in the U.S.A. and in Europe at American Express, Bankers Trust and AXA.

“With over two decades of marketing experience in the investment management and financial services industries, Marc brings strong leadership and proven talents at a critical time for our firm,” said Brian Langstraat, Parametric CEO, in the statement. “Given the noteworthy growth in assets under management and success of our innovative strategies, we are all excited to have Marc on board.”

Mutual-fund behemoth Eaton Vance bought 80% of Parametric in 2003. The Seattle-based company focuses on engineered portfolio solutions, including rules-based alpha-seeking equity, and alternative strategies, as well as implementation services including custom core equity, futures overlay and centralized portfolio management. It managed approximately $159.3 billion in total assets on behalf of institutions, high-net-worth individuals and fund investors in the U.S. and abroad as of March 31, 2016.
