A former Magnetar Capital portfolio manager has launched a reinsurance hedge fund.
Ross Stevens' Stone Ridge Asset Management began trading in September. The fund "expects to invest broadly in reinsurance-related securities across the yield spectrum," Stone Ridge wrote in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Among those securities are swaps, industry loss warrants, longevity bonds and mortality bonds, it added.
Stevens' team at Stone Ridge includes former Royal Bank of Canada equity derivatives trader Robert Gutmann, former Deutsche Bank structured products salesman Erick Goralski, and Goralski's former deputy, John Kidd, Bloomberg News reports.
Stone Ridge charges 1.5% for management, the filing says.
